How do I enjoy all these photos?

yes you have them all backed up in multiple places, in the cloud, on a hard drive, on your phone… right?

But how do we let them breathe and enjoy them in our home without wallpapering the house in images of ourselves?

The wedding album is one of the neatest way to put it in a book & keep it for a lifetime and beyond in one neat package. BUT here are some ideas that you can do as well or instead!

A treasure box

Find your perfect treasure box. Stained glass, wood, hand made, magical, something truly unique! This can be the home for a collection of your favourite prints.

You can print cheaply at places like Harvey Norman or you can do a bulk run of fine art prints are a professional photo lab like Fitzgerald Photo or in your gallery!

Your gallery’s shop has 24 fine art prints for $125 for 4x6” or $174 for 5x7”.
Fine art prints have no reflection or plastic coating and are beautiful to hold.

A photo wall

A dedicated wall for wedding photos sounds good but isn’t as easy as you think. Which images and frames do you choose? Sizes? Colour? How to hang?

Because all frames have different hook styles, trying to neatly align a bunch of random frames is tricky so here are some suggestions.

Embrace the creative layout

Start by hanging one big photo then build off that in a creative fashion that doesn’t rely on perfection. Even mix up the frame styles to give it that artistic feel.

Use a corner to make it more fun and artistic.

GO NEAT

Buy frames with the exact same hanging device so you can line them up. Just choose different sizes with the same colour frame.

FAT MATTING

Add class by having extra fat borders around images.

GO BLACK AND WHITE

One way to make pictures look artistic is to use only black and white versions. This ties things together and makes it look less busy. Your photos will look more moody this way.

Add objects & art

You can also make the layout more artistic by adding other objects, perhaps related to the day or your relationship.
eg a velvet ring box, some dried flowers, the invite, a little mirror or clock or drawing.
Outside of the wedding perhaps things like an air plant, a gift bought on travel, an antique heirloom. This softens the focus of the wedding wall spam.

Diverse Image Choice

Choose photographs that are diverse in their framing so it has some contrast in the images. One image might be close up, another far away, one more abstract or more movement. Don’t have all people’s faces and all similar sized. It looks “too much”.

A photo shelf

A casual photo frame shelf is a low-fi way to create a sense of story and memory with the ability to shuffle things around over time.

Not sure how you prevent them falling over, but how nice does it look?

A magazine

This DIY more casual format is fun, especially if you want to cram loads (like hundreds) of photos in AND make multiple copies for parents and fam.

There are a few websites - some more photo based and some where you can put stories, quotes and more.

A magnet collection

This could be just taking things a little too far, or hang on, what about as gifts for guests if you have cool photos of them? Add them to a thank you card!

Also kind of fun for any little ones that might love playing with them and their sticky fingers won’t bother you.

A jigsaw puzzle

Okay, not gonna lie, am scraping the bottom of the barrel of ideas here but, maybe a good anniversary gift for your nerdier partner? A shared activity to do as your ‘stay home’ celebration?
