Whether you want it to be solemn meaningful ritual or an entertaining laugh along, I have collected some thoughts for you to consider to make your ceremony your own, unique and memorable.

ALTERNATIVE IDEAS FOR THE JOB?

A child, a pet, a grandparent, someone dressed up in character or a special person who can pay a role in your wedding?

It doesn’t have to be a quick handover either, it can be something you can turn into a more special part of the ceremony with a spoken message, a certain box / presentation or a ritual like the guests warming the ring.

Handing the ring around for warming is a sweet way to include your guests and encourage them to be present in your ceremony.

Ceremony Set Up

The design of your space is about setting the mood of your event and saying ‘This, here, is the ceremony!’ It creates excitement and beauty around your vows as well as literally makes your photos prettier.

An Arbour

The use of an arbour is very popular for a reason. It provides a shape behind you, setting you in the space & creating a vibe of ‘ceremony’. But this can take many forms and be decorated in many ways.

Florals, greenery, fabric, paper flags or cranes, a solid backdrop, ribbons…

Fabric Draping

If you have a tree behind you consider decoration that creates some detail on the trunk. Many photos will just be the brown trunk & no leaves.

So adding lower decoration, hanging embellishments, bows, embedded flowers, or any kind of fabric drapped around will create a little extra magic.

Different Floral Arrangements

Removing the arbour doesn’t mean you have to remove the decorations.
Flowers can be embedded in a tree, sculptural and integrated with the space.

Consider your confetti Options

The biggest thing I’ve noticed from the exit walk is how many factors there are in making confetti work it’s magic. From the amount, the timing or the type. Here are some tips to give yourself ultimate confetti success.

Top Tips

  1. Get heaps

  2. Make sure people are handing it out & reminded to throw HIGH.

  3. The lighter, the more floaty and fun it looks.

  4. The smaller, the less chance of fully blocking your faces.

Roses

Roses are the classic choice. Smaller petals float better.

Trying alternative flora like leaves and herbs – this can be more environmentally friendly and unique in colour scheme. Just see how it floats. And not too chunky.

Or think beyond the flora and go to the food department. Popcorn, Coconut, Rice, Fruitloops… just be wary of colour and a white dress.

Paper in squares or circles looks fun.

Can’t use confetti because of the venue / birds?

Try bubbles (handheld or machines), flags, ribbons, loud music to dance down aisle.
