What I love about backyard weddings is that it’s usually a one-off and I may well be the first and last to capture a wedding in this place. It feels particularly exciting for me because if no one has photographed there before it means everything I do is unique, every backdrop new. I’m creating entirely original work!
On top of that it’s personal. It’s the family home, the parent’s table, the pathway they’ve walked a thousand times… which means every photo is rich in story for the couple.
When someone has a backyard wedding they can spend as long as they like beforehand decorating their yard, no time pressure and no need to even pack down the next day when you’re feeling dusty. Let the wedding day turn into a wedding week I say!
When I walked into this Kalumunda property I had to stop myself from squealing. They had turned a beautiful property into a wonderland with plants, dreamy lighting and cute furniture. It was the perfect setting. Then add the kindest souls, Ash & Clarke and their bevy of spunky and big hearted friends & family. Yes, this is the stuff of dreams…
